Authorship Criteria

Authorship in Al-Muhith: Jurnal Ilmu Qur'an dan Hadits is given only to individuals who have made a substantial scholarly contribution to the manuscript. Authorship represents both academic credit and responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and accountability of the published work.

Authorship Criteria

To qualify as an author, an individual must meet the following criteria:

  1. Make a substantial contribution to the conception, design, data or source collection, analysis, interpretation, or other substantive scholarly aspects of the research;

  2. Participate in drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content;

  3. Read and approve the final version of the manuscript to be submitted and published; and

  4. Agree to be accountable for the integrity of the work and to respond appropriately to questions concerning the accuracy, originality, research ethics, or scholarly content of the article.

Individuals who do not meet these criteria should not be listed as authors.

Substantial scholarly contributions may include developing the research idea, designing the study, collecting or analyzing primary and secondary sources, conducting fieldwork or manuscript research, interpreting Qur’anic or hadith materials, conducting philological or textual analysis, preparing scholarly translations or transliterations, developing the theoretical or methodological framework, writing substantial parts of the manuscript, or critically revising the manuscript for important intellectual content.

Author Contributions

Each listed author must have a clearly identifiable contribution to the manuscript. For multi-author manuscripts, the journal may require an author contribution statement specifying the role of each author.

Author contributions may include, where applicable:

  • Conceptualization;

  • Research design and methodology;

  • Data, manuscript, archival, or source collection;

  • Fieldwork;

  • Formal or textual analysis;

  • Interpretation of Qur’anic, hadith, historical, or manuscript materials;

  • Translation and transliteration;

  • Writing the original draft;

  • Critical review and revision;

  • Research supervision;

  • Project administration; and

  • Other substantive scholarly contributions.

Administrative position, institutional authority, general supervision, funding acquisition alone, proofreading, technical assistance, or language editing alone does not automatically qualify a person for authorship.

All authors must read and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission. By submitting the manuscript, the authors confirm that all listed authors have agreed to the submission and publication, all eligible authors have been included, all sources and contributions have been properly acknowledged, and no person has been included as an author without fulfilling the journal’s authorship criteria.
